Almost any one of the many tools at the disposal of Indie rockers Mathien could lead to a successful modern band. The tongue in cheek clever observational song lyrics, a band of musicians who seem bred to experiment in every possible musical style, and a versatile vocalist equally comfortable crooning a soul ballad, screaming a rocker or shifting to hip hop: put them altogether and you’re no longer talking about a potentially successful band but a great one.

The Vi Tran Band from KC will be releasing their new album “American Heroine” in MHK!

“American Heroine is my “wheat fields” album. It’s an album inspired by my love of American literature and all the master storytellers I read when I was growing up–Hemingway, Steinbeck, Fitzgerald. It’s also a romantic rebuttal to the stoic Hemingway heroes of the past; it’s a love letter; it’s a conversation between the heroes and heroines on both sides of the narrative.”

Local song goddess Jessica Paige will be opening up with her sweet, sweet songs. Even the poisonous ones taste like heaven.
