Local Love February Round 1

February 6, 2014 @ 8:00 pm
Aggie Central Station, 1115 Moro Street, Manhattan, KS, 66502, United States

Come show us your musical talents and get a chance to move on to the final round at the end of the month where finalist will compete for $150 cash and three hours of recording time at Aggie Central Station!

- Each artist/group gets 3 songs or 10 minutes to perform. If we have more than 9 groups signed up, this goes down to 2 songs and seven minutes.

- Electrified instruments are allowed, but only if they go direct or have small amplifiers, in which case they will be turned down to minimum. No full bands. The general rule is, if it can’t be set up in 3 minutes or less, we don’t want it.

- We do not allow singers to sing to tracks, this isn’t karaoke. If you are a hip hop MC, you can use tracks but only if they are original and have no main vocals in them.

- Want to win? Bring lots of friends! However, they must stay until the end of the night to vote.

First Science Café of 2014!
Dr. Rollie Clem (KSU Biology) will discuss:

Influenza: Why it’s still nothing to sneeze at

Despite the fact that we have had a vaccine against influenza virus for many years, it continues to kill upwards of 20,000 Americans each year, with these deaths occurring mainly among the elderly and the very young. In addition, we face the ongoing threat of possible world-wide influenza pandemics, which have the potential to cause catastrophic loss of life and severe interruption of our social fabric. Rollie will discuss what makes influenza such a serious public health problem, controversial research that is attempting to gain a better understanding of what makes bird flu so potentially dangerous, and how new vaccine technologies that are being developed may someday provide better protection against the flu.

Motley Crüe with Alice Cooper

August 3, 2014 @ 7:00 pm
Sprint Center, Sprint Center, 1407 Grand Boulevard, Kansas City, MO 64106, USA

Kansas City, MO (Jan. 28, 2014) – After more than three decades together, iconic rock ‘n roll band MÖTLEY CRÜE announced today their Final Tour and the band’s ultimate retirement. The announcement was solidified when the band signed a formal Cessation Of Touring Agreement, effective at the end of 2015, in front of global media in Los Angeles. The Final Tour comes to Sprint Center on Aug. 3.

With over 80 million albums sold, MÖTLEY CRÜE has sold out countless tours across the globe and spawned more than 2,500 MÖTLEY CRÜE branded items sold in over 30 countries. MÖTLEY CRÜE has proven they know how to make a lasting impression and this tour will be no different. Fans can expect to hear the catalogue of their chart-topping hits and look forward to mind-blowing, unparalleled live production. “When it comes to putting together a new show we always push the envelope and that’s part of Motley Crue’s legacy,” explains Nikki Sixx (bass). “As far as letting on to what we’re doing, that would be like finding out what you’re getting for Christmas before you open the presents. We think in an age of too much information, we’d like to keep some surprises close to our chest until we launch the Final Tour.”

Tickets for the Aug. 3 concert go on sale Friday, Jan. 31 at 10 AM online at www.SprintCenter.com, in person at Sprint Center Box Office or charge-by-phone at 888.929.7849.

Fans can look forward to Very Special Guest ALICE COOPER joining MÖTLEY CRÜE for an incredible package – Alice invented the genre and MÖTLEY CRÜE put steroids in it! “Real hard rock bands are hard to find these days,” said Alice, continuing,”Motley has always gone on stage with one attitude and that’s to blow the audience away.  That’s exactly how we do it.  Putting Motley Crue and Alice Cooper together is going to be just what this summer really NEEDS.  We’re going to go out there and tear it up, and I can’t wait to see Motley on stage.  Motley Crue and Alice Cooper – A match made in… Armageddon?”
