KSU Pussycat Press Spring Fundraiser

This Friday the Pussycat Press will be holding their annual Printmaking event and fundraiser at the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art. Come join the fun!

For each 5 dollar donation, patrons will receive a small print handmade by a Pussycat Press Printmaking member. Along with your print, you will also have one ticket per 5 dollar donation entered into a raffle for a chance to win limited edition prints by KSU Art Dept Faculty, Alumni, Grad Students, Printmaking Majors, and Visiting artists. This year’s visiting artists prints include Nationally recognized printmakers Daniel Dallmann, Ke Francis, and Andrew Deacean!

Donations for tickets can be purchased before hand from Pussycat Press members, or at the event.

Come enjoy appetizers, woodblock demonstrations, great prints, and support the KSU Printmaking Society! The event is free and open to the public.

After the event be sure to head over to the Chapman Gallery for the BFA exhibition closing reception 7-9pm, which features two graduating printmakers, Robert Kelly and Mariah Gasswint.

Kyle Myers takes a break from fronting awesome local rock band The Carney Encore to play a solo set at Dancing Ganesha.

The Hype Weekly described Myers as “[someone] who writes beautiful, complex lyrics that make other songwriters look bad for singing about getting drunk and partying. He [...] can put on such a good show with just the emotion in his voice that other people look stupid for dancing around to entertain the crowd. ”

So come listen to some singer-songwriter greatness and enjoy the great beer specials!

Drunk Spelling Bee / On The Spot Two-fer!

That’s right, the Drunk Spelling Bee returns for a third installment! Afterwards, the hilarious antics of the On The Spot Improv troupe will round out the evening!

So, how does he Spelling Bee work?

We’re going by a modified Scripp’s National Spelling Bee format using their list from 2012.

- We will allow a maximum of 25 contestants so get there early.
- We will allow two misspelled words before you’re out.
- We will start with the 1st grade words, and work our way up to the 8th grade words.
- Spelling is according to the official Pronunciation guide.
- You may ask for definition, part of speech and a sentence demonstrating usage.
- Lastly, you must have an alcoholic drink in your hand when spelling.

That’s it!

Winner will have $50 of their tab paid for!

We will also have an alternate prize for the drunkest speller, as determined by breathalyzer. Of course you still can’t be too drunk to be in the bar. That would be illegal and unsafe! ;)

Dylan Easterberg BENEFIT CONCERT

This Benefit Concert is being held for Dylan Easterberg and his family. Dylan has been diagnosed with a cancerous Wilms tumor on his kidney and has already had surgery and had this tumor removed. All money raised during this show will go to the Easterberg family.

The show will have the following artists May 3rd from 7pm-2am.

We will also be raffling off a KSU football signed by Bill Snyder himself.

$5 at the door, and donations boxes will be set up as well.
$5 for a raffle ticket (no limit to how many ticket per person)

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Based on the “coat of many colors” story of Joseph from the Bible’s Book of Genesis, the musical tells the story of Joseph, son of Jacob. The favored son, he is betrayed by his jealous brothers and sold into slavery and driven to Egypt. Though beset with adversity, Joseph perseveres through wit and faith and becomes the governor of Egypt, second only to the Pharaoh. This all sets the scene for when he meets his brothers who have come to Egypt to purchase food. Its family-friendly storyline, universal themes and catchy music have made it extremely popular with audiences and performers alike.
