will present: The Interplayground of Music, Science, and Engineering
Individually, music and science (and engineering) can be very moving. Music can be found in unusual places, and it turns out that there are many connections between concepts associated with music and various fundamental concepts present in mathematics, the sciences, and engineering. We will visit a few of these connections, some similarities between the creative acts of musical composition and scientific or engineering design, and one or two excerpts of musical compositions that resulted from partnerships between music majors and engineering majors.
For this gathering, we have a guest coming in to show us the basics of Soapmaking! Should be lots of fun! We will start at 6:30, and will probably end around 8:00. We will also be having a St. Patrick’s Day party, so bring your green! Hope to see you there!
Jessica Paige will be gracing the ACS stage with her talents once more! As a super awesome bonus, viper jazz act from NC Woody Pines will be up as soon as Jess gets down killing it!
ACS is proud to bring Lydia Loveless to our stage!
“Sounds Like: Loretta Lynn and Patti Smith slamming shots at a Midwestern dive bar while cowboys and punks brawl out back.
- Rolling Stone
“Loveless’ emotional honesty and lithe genre-melding are indeed singular. Her recent EP, Boy Crazy, is a takes-no-shit concept record, punctuated with gritty confessional lyrics like, “Well I hope this moment will never be over / Because I just don’t know how I’m gonna face being sober.”
Opening up will be Jessica Paige!
