Competitive eater Joey Chestnut ate 121 Twinkies in 6 minutes at the World’s first Twinkie-Eating Championship in Mississippi. Chestnut took first place in the competition.
Chestnut ate 10 more Twinkies than the second place person in the event and 50 more than the woman who took third place. His average of 20 Twinkies per minute is better than the record set by competitive eater Takeru Kobayashi who ate 14 of them in one minute last year.

The rock world is still mourning the loss of Lou Reed who died Sunday at the age of 71 from what a representative said was an ailment related to his liver transplant in May. On Sunday night, Pearl Jam paid a musical tribute to the late Velvet Underground singer by performing “I’m Waiting for the Man” during their concert in Baltimore.
Could be worse…it could be that they made a baby.
Influential songwriter and guitarist Lou Reed died yesterday. Reed was known as being a pioneer who helped shape almost fifty years of rock music.
The cause of his death has not been released, but Reed underwent a liver transplant in May.
Reed founded Velvet Underground in the late 60s. As a solo artist from the 70s into the 2010s, he was a fan favorite.
In 1970, Reed traveled to England and recorded a solo debut backed by members of the band Yes. 1972′s Transformer was produced by David Bowie and pushed him beyond cult status into rock stardom.
“Walk On the Wild Side” became a hit and “Satellite of Love” was covered by U2 and others.
Reed became a student of T-ai Chi. In 2005 he released a double-CD called “The Raven”, based on the work of Edgar Allen Poe. In 2007, he released an ambient album titled “Hudson River Wind Meditations”. Reed returned to mainstream rock with 2011′s “Lulu”, a collaboration with Metallica.

In his last post on social media, Reed posted a picture with a poster of him called “The Door.”

Rumors became cold hard facts Thursday when Metallic confirmed on their website they will be performing a concert in Antarctica. The band said in a statement: “After 30 years as a band, we have been unbelievably fortunate to visit just about every corner of the earth…except for one. That is all about to change as we are set to travel to Antarctica, the only continent that Metallica has never played on until now.” On December 8, the band will play “inside a dome” on the Carlini Argentine Base for an audience that will consist of contest winners from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica and Mexico who enter a contest sponsored by Coca-Cola Zero. And in “a real first” for the band, “the show will be transmitted to the audience via headphones with no amplification.” The gig will be filmed for audience worldwide to see at a later date.
This guy’s an animal! Gary Matthews doesn’t just love dogs, he wants to be one! The 47-year-old unemployed IT technician from frequently dons a shaggy dog costume and becomes his alter ego, Boomer. When he’s in canine mode, he runs around on all fours, eats food out of a bowl and chases cars. He also sleeps inside a giant doghouse and barks to communicate. “I really wish they do figure out how to turn humans into dogs so that I can do that!”, said Matthews…er, Boomer the Dog.
A new browser game called “Dr. Meth” lets players live out the dream of becoming a kingpin of their very own drug empire.
“Dr. Meth” has already gotten more than two million members, with more than 250,000 simultaneous players expanding their meth empires at any given time.
“Dr. Meth” is similar to another recent Internet craze, “Cookie Clicker,” a browser-based game that asks players to click on cookies to make more.
“Dr. Meth” starts you out with a simple chemistry set you use to make the drug. After cooking a batch, you click on a small money icon below it to sell the product.

Pretty soon, your empire is in full swing. You can hire dealers to sell the product for you, and buy new structures like trailers to house cooks and a research facility to hire chemists that up the meth’s purity rating.
Each of these tiers is unlocked when you get a certain amount of money, but once you have a healthy amount of cooks to make the product and dealers to sell it, you can sit back and watch the money pour in until you have a cool million to drop on a new facility.
Two guys in a band from Topeka ran into a dam in the middle of a blizzard on the Mississippi river near Moline, Ill.
The guys started on an adventure over a week ago at the headwaters of the Mighty Miss and got about 500 miles in a canoe before someone at a marina gave them a free sailboat, flare, and instructions.
They’d never sailed before but decided to try to make it all the way to the Gulf of Mexico.
As they got further down the river they ran into heavy snow and fog so thick they couldn’t see either side of the river.
By the time they saw the dam it was too late and they slammed the 22-foot boat into the rocks.
They called for help and firefighters came and rescued them. There’s no word on the condition of the boat but they’re still determined to finish their trip.
Their story has made national news. Their band is called Yak Bastard in case you want to FaceStalk them!
Here’s what happens when an audio engineer gets shafted by a horrible hardcore band. These guys should have paid their bill!
