So, forty years ago today, the first cell phone call was made by this guy:
His name? Marty Cooper. While working for Motorola in 1973, Cooper developed the prototype that would later become the Motorola DynaTAC 8000x. You can see this phone is numerous movies from the period, including “Wall Street” and “American Psycho”. If you think an iPhone is expensive, then we doubt you’d shell out the $3,995 this phone went for. Some of its main features? It weighed only 2.5 lbs and could display only one line of lcd text. No Angry Birds!
Rutgers basketball coach Mike Rice has been caught on video hurling basketballs from close range at his players, shoving and grabbing his players kicking them; and screaming obscenities and homophobic slurs at them.
The video shows practices from 2010-12. About 30 minutes of the video was viewed in December by athletic director Tim Pernetti, who suspended Rice for three games that month and fined him $50,000.
ESPN got a hold of the video and it shows Rice calling his players “f—-ts,” “m—–f—–s,” “p—–s,” “sissy b—–s,” and “c—s.”
It also shows him firing balls at his players’ heads at close range and kicking them.
The athletic director said in March that Rice is coming back next season and he has no plans to fire him over the video.
Sure, it’s opening day in Toronto. Sure, it’s probably the most exciting thing that happened at that game. But still, you probably would’ve been just a tad nervous if you were next to this guy in the stands.
So, these sounds probably shouldn’t be able to be produced by a human, and maybe they’re not? Either way, he either kicks some major beat-boxing ass or somebody’s really good at syncing audio and video.
